Meeting and pickup

Start Time: We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco around 05:00 a.m.

Pick-up Details: The transfer on your day trip to Cusco takes approximately three hours and passes through wonderful Andean landscapes along the South Valley. At the end of the trek and after the buffet lunch, we will return to Cusco in our transportation on a journey of about three hours, arriving at 16:00 p.m. to finally drop you off at your hotel.

Cusco

05:00am: We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco around 05:00, as we need time to drive to the trailhead and then complete the trek. This transfer on your day trip to Cusco takes approximately three hours and passes through wonderful Andean landscapes along the South Valley. We will stop for breakfast along the way.

Cusipata and the Trailhead

08:00am: We will enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast at a local restaurant in the Cusipata community. After breakfast, we will continue the journey to the trailhead in the town of Cusipata itself, located at about 3,310 m (10,859 feet) above sea level, where we will prepare to start the route.

Trek through the Ausangate Valley

08:30am: From here, we will undertake our walk, first following a beautiful stream and observing herds of alpacas and blades while they graze on the slopes. We will also have consistent views of the sacred mountain of Ausangate. As we continue, we will pass through charming villages where the ancient traditions of the Andes are still very much alive.

Vinicunca (The Rainbow Mountain)

10:30am: As we approach our destination, we will begin to see many alpacas and llamas and, after a walk of approximately 2 hours, we will finally reach our goal: Vinicunca, the spectacular Rainbow Mountain. Here, at a literally breathtaking height of 5,100 m (16,732 feet) above sea level, we will begin to explore the area. We will hike to the top of the Rainbow Mountain, where we will spend about 30 minutes alongside our professional guide.

Return Trek and Lunch in Cusipata

11:00am: Once we have had time to enjoy all the magnificent views, we will undertake our return walk, which will last approximately 1.5 hours. Our transport will be waiting for us at the end of the trail to then go straight to the local restaurant in the community of Cusipata to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch.

Return to Cusco City

13:00pm: After lunch, we will return to Cusco, once again, on a drive of about three hours in our transportation. We will arrive in Cusco at 16:00, at which time we will drop you off at your hotel. End of service.

Preparation and Safety: The tour includes an information session one day before the trek to Vinicunca. Likewise, for your total safety on the route, a first aid kit and an oxygen bottle are available.

Landscape and Tradition: During the journey we will undertake our walk following a beautiful stream, observing herds of alpacas and llamas while they graze on the slopes, and contemplating consistent views of the sacred mountain of Ausangate.
