Meeting and pickup

Start Time: We begin our full-day trek early in the morning, picking you up from your hotel in Cusco around 04:00 a.m.

Pick-up Details: You will travel in transport with your guide and driver. For the return trip, after the trek and lunch, we will board our transport and return to Cusco, where we will arrive around 17:00 p.m. to finally drop you off at your hotel.

Cusco and Trip to Mollepata

04:00am: We begin our full-day trek to Humantay Lake early in the morning, picking you up from your hotel in Cusco around 4 a.m. You will travel in our transport with your guide and driver, enjoying the blankets on board to keep warm during the journey to the town of Mollepata.

Breakfast in Mollepata and Arrival at Soraypampa

06:30am: We will stop in Mollepata, where we will have a hearty buffet breakfast in one of the best restaurants in the town, which will give us all the necessary energy for our trek. After breakfast, we will continue in the transport to Soraypampa, located at 3,920 m / 12,860 feet, where the trailhead is located. Here you will have the opportunity to see the Sky Camp with its domed accommodation in front of the majestic Salkantay and Humantay mountains.

Ascent Hike to Humantay Lake

08:30am: After a brief rest, we will prepare to begin the trek to Humantay Lake. Starting from Soraypampa, we will hike uphill for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, passing through wonderful landscapes surrounded by stunning mountains. While the hiking time is short, it is a difficult hike, as we climb a total of 350 meters of elevation gain.

Exploration of the Sacred Humantay Lagoon

10:30am: Reaching the lake and seeing it stretch out before you is a majestic experience. Its emerald waters are fascinating and it is surrounded by a huge glacier and steep snow-capped mountains at an altitude of 4,200 meters above sea level. You will have plenty of time at the lake to enjoy the scenery, listen to our guide's explanations about the apachetas, take photographs, and walk around the lake. If you feel brave, you can even go paddling in the icy waters.

Descent to Soraypampa and Buffet Lunch

12:30pm: When we are ready to leave this wonderful place, we will undertake the return hike downhill to Soraypampa, where a delicious and well-deserved buffet lunch awaits us at the facilities to recover our strength.

Return to Cusco City

14:30pm: After lunch, we will board our return transport. We will travel back contemplating the Andean landscapes until finally arriving at the city of Cusco around 17:00 p.m., where we will drop you off directly at your hotel. End of service.

Important information

Travel Comfort: The tour includes blankets for each passenger to feel warm while traveling early at dawn towards the starting point.

Traditional Mysticism: The lake has a great spiritual load; it is common to leave an offering, known as apacheta, on the shores of the lake.

Preparation and Safety: For your well-being at high altitude, hot drinks (coca and muña tea) are included, plus an oxygen bottle and a first aid kit.

Equipment and Horses: Hiking equipment like poles is not included. If you do not wish to walk and prefer to travel by horse, your guide will help you rent one directly on site.

Does it include a professional guide?: Yes. The tour has a professional English-speaking guide service who will accompany you from the pick-up in Cusco and throughout the ascent to the lake.
